U.S. President George W. Bush encouraged eligible Americans to sign up for the Medicare prescription drug plan, which has an enrollment deadline coming up. [more]
Everyone on Medicare is eligible for the new prescription plan, which went into effect earlier this year. There is a deadline of May 15 for signups, however, to get the lowest possible premiums.
Bush, in his Saturday radio address, said some 30 million people have enrolled and are paying about $25 per month -- less than the projected $37 a month. He said the average saving is about $1,100 a year
