Tiny Amillia Taylor left a Miami hospital Wednesday for the first time since she was born 4 1/2 months ago after less [more] than 22 weeks gestation.
Amillia weighed just 10 ounces when she was born in October to Eddie and Sonja Taylor of Homestead. She suffers from a number of ailments and requires round-the-clock care.
Doctors at Baptist Children's Hospital had planned to send Amillia home Tuesday but then decided to keep her an extra day.
The Miami Herald reports Amillia's weight is now up to 4 pounds.
Amillia is believed to be the first child to survive after less than 23 weeks gestation and the smallest at birth to pull through.
The American Academy of Pediatrics does not consider fetuses to be viable at less than 23 weeks.
