U.S. researchers say baby boomers may not be as healthy as their parents were when they retired.
The Washington [more] Post says a growing body of evidence shows that baby boomers are more likely to report chronic aches and pains, as well as high cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes.
Researchers say many of the ailments are tied to the obesity epidemic, which boosts cholesterol and blood pressure. Baby boomers also tend to be less physically active than their parents and grandparents.
Some researchers say rising rates of chronic disease may simply mean such illnesses are being diagnosed earlier, which may result in increased longevity.
The newspaper said boomers may also have higher expectations for their health than previous generations, making them more likely to notice and complain about aches and pains.
