The European Space Agency says it expects several hundred scientists from around the world at the Envisat Symposium April [more] 23-27 in Montreux, Switzerland.
Scientists plan to present and review results of ongoing research projects using data from the ESA's Envisat, Europe's largest satellite for environmental monitoring, the European Remote Sensing satellite and third party mission satellites.
The Paris-based ESA said the main objective of the symposium is to provide a forum for scientific researchers and operational users to meet, present results and compare findings.
Oral presentations, posters and demonstrations will focus on the atmosphere, meteorology and climate, oceanography, the cryosphere, land applications and hazards.
Some 600 abstracts have already been received by the ESA, but based on requests by several scientists the deadline for the submission of additional abstracts has been extended until Oct. 1.
The last Envisat Symposium was held in Salzburg, Austria, in 2004.
