Harvard Plans Recruiting In Britain Recruiters from the U.S. Ivy League Harvard University plan to visit state schools in Britain this year to promote the [more] school.

The plan is part of an effort to correct an imbalance that currently allows only a handful of students from the British state schools to study at Harvard, the Financial Times reported.

The recruiters will go to Britain to make the students aware of Harvard's policy of waiving fees for parents with incomes of less than $60,000.

Harvard and other top U.S. colleges are facing growing criticism that only students from wealthy families can afford to study in the institutions, the newspaper said. They are trying to set up generous financial programs to increase their international enrolment.

In Britain, one teacher who deals with students applying to the United States said many state school students are discouraged because most centers for recruiting students are based in expensive, private schools, the Financial Times said.
