The body 8-years-old autistic boy, Jared McGuire, who disappeared on Friday in Greenacres, Florida has been found in a South Florida lake, according to Greenacres Police. The FDLE has issued a statewide amber alert earlier on Friday and initially it was believed that the boy was kidnapped. [more]
According to Associated Press, his body was found floating face down in a retaining pond drowned but did not appear to be a victim of foul play, according to a preliminary medical examiner's report released Saturday.
Jared's mother told authorities she last saw him sleeping on a sofa Thursday afternoon. After she reported him missing, police scoured the area with helicopters and dogs, but initially found nothing. Authorities suspect the body sank and then surfaced.
"Nothing appears to be related to the initial call of the abduction," said Lt. Michael Porath of Greenacres police
"At this time it appears that Jared McGuire died as a result of drowning," Lt. Michael L. Porath said. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office will not release their final autopsy report until a toxicology study is completed in 6 to 10 weeks, police said.
