The other African states where the bird flu virus was disovered are Nigeria, Egypt and Niger. In the meantime WHO reports that Nigeria's outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza, initially confirmed at a single farm on 8 February, has now spread to several parts of the country. To date, outbreaks have been detected on more than 130 farms in 11 of the country's 37 states.
