A wedding feast in Lincang City, China, sent 371 people to the hospital with vomiting and diarrhea.[more]
Investigators said the possibility of someone deliberately poisoning the banquet has been completely ruled out, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Yang Huangxiong, the head of the Linxiang District in Lincang City, said that no pesticide residues were found in the meal and that there is a good possibility that the illness was caused by roasted ducks and drinks brought in from an outside source.
The deputy secretary-general of the Lincang City government, Huang Chengshu, told Xinhua that the wedding was thrown by Mengwang village's Chen Changfa on Thursday.
Changfa reportedly prepared most of the banquet himself at his home.
During the wedding banquet, some of the more than 300 guests began feeling sick and showing symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea.
All 371 victims were taken to local hospitals, where 80 of them were kept overnight but were reportedly out of danger.
