Firefox fans seem to have one more supporter among their continuously increasing ranks – and this time, it's a very important one – none other than Internet giant Google, who has launched a campaign aggressively called "Explorer Destroyer" meant to promote the Firefox browser. [more]
Basically, the campaign consists of a tool which detects the people who use Internet Explorer and advises them to switch to Mozilla Firefox because of a series of reasons like: pop-up blocker, increased security against viruses and spyware, efficient tabbed browsing, better alignment with the needs of web designers and developers, as well as a way to keep Microsoft from "controlling the future of the internet".
"Get this tool for switching people from IE to Firefox. For each person you switch, Google gives you $1, Microsoft loses marketshare, and an angel gets its wings", the authors write.
The tool is available for download on
http://explorerdestroyer.com/ and can be used by anyone provided they have a Google AdSense account. Three levels of "aggressiveness" are also available to better suit the needs of those who decide to implement this tool on their web sites: Gentle, Semi-serious, and Dead-serious.
The financial income is set to $1 for every user who decides to switch to Firefox. However, bear in mind the fact that Google AdSense will send the payment cheque only when at least $100 have been raised.
