Microsoft's free storage service previously known as Live Folders has today been augmented to 5GB, so you cannot complain anymore than there's no room for you files.[more]
I have been a SkyDrive user since the service first debuted last year, with only 500MB of free space. At that time embedding files was impossible, not to mention that you didn't even have separated folders (Music, Photos, Public/Private Files, etc.). In the mean time the popularity of the service has increased, especially after it was integrated into the Live Services suite (which comprises Spaces, Hotmail, OneCare and Live Search among others), and more features have been added.
Almost a year after, Microsoft decided to "skyrocket" SkyDrive to no less than 5GB, going head to head with their old Hotmail- the latter boasting with the same amount of storage space, but for e-mails. It appears that making the former Live Folders more capacious has been the main feature the SkyDrive team has received from users in the recent period.
The team also increased the number of countries in which the service is available in native languages. The list includes Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Turkey, besides the already known US, India and Great Britain.
Now that it's just been augmented, we're just curious to know: when are we going to get 10GB?...
