Although we're a bit late with the news, we'll post it anyway since
it's of interest for RPG fans. CD Projekt are wrapping up an enhanced
edition of their highly-praised The Witcher, due to debut in May.
After
boasting with more than 600,000 copies sold for their revolutionary and PC-exclusive RPG, CD Projekt are launching a new fashion: the...
re-launching
of a game. Michal Kicinski, CD Projekt CEO, had announced a couple of
weeks ago that The Witcher Enhanced Edition will (hopefully...) lack
the defects and the bugs that have plagued the initial release
(especially the long loading times) and has also offered an explanation
as to why these plagues have crawled into the game's code: they didn't
have time to completely eliminate them... Now how many times have we
heard this before? Erm, like...
ALL the time?...
Anyway, here's the list of improvements we should expect this spring:
- loading times 80% lower than in the standard version
- increased stability on different PC configurations
- increased precision and interactivity during fights
- complete or partial modifications operated for the versions in different languages, especially the German and the English ones, where a re-recording of all in-game voices is planned
- over 50 new characters added to the plot, so that the player does not stumble upon the same faces over and over again
- dialogue scenes will have more than 100 facial animations and natural gestures, for both Gerald and the NPCs
- the Enhanced Edition will contain the game DVD, and second DVD with a D'jinii Mod Editor and a map of the game, a 180 pages booklet where the game instructions are imprinted, a CD with the 29 soundtracks of the game plus 15 soundtracks inspired by the game, another
112 pages booklet serving as official guide and also featuring The
Witcher's developers and finally a short history inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski, whose chef-d'oeuvre sits at the basis of CD Projekt's RPG
- two new levels: first, dubbed
"The Price of Neutrality," has 3 new quests and depicts Gerald's return
at Kaer Morhen, where he finds a mysterious camp next to his
stronghold; the second, comprised of 5 new quests, is focused on
Gerald's relationship with his friend Dandelion and on his troubles with the city of Vizima.
As mentioned earlier, the Enhanced Edition is scheduled to debut on the 16 of May,
but only in Eastern Europe for now, CD Projekt hoping to sign agreements with Western publishers shortly afterwards.
