Hard to be a God announced for April

Akella's new action-adventure title, published by German company Ascaron (who are also readying their own RPG Sacred 2) will launch this spring, only for PCs.

The game combines the sci-fi and medieval fantasy genres with a mix of Hack & Slash and RPG gameplay. The concoction will have you wielding swords against monsters and bandits, while at the same time giving you the chance of slashing enemies with... lasers, on a distant, alien-populated planet called Tsurinak.

Ascaron emphasizes that horseback fights are numerous in the game, but weapons (more than 200) are there to help players defeat mounted foes and the plethora of immortal, blood-thirsty creatures that they encounter. The arsenal includes scorchers, modifiers, mini-guns, force fields and sophisticated combat gadgets, contrasting with the swords, bow and arrows and axes wielded by the men of Tsurinak.

· A greater emphasis on horseback combat challenges the player to develop a new skill and brings a different type of gameplay to the genre

· Advanced character customisation takes place to match the individual playing style that is developed as the game progresses

· An addictive and engrossing non-linear storyline will develop as the player meets new characters each with their own history, enriching the game’s narrative

· The game brings to life the world envisioned by the Strugatsky brothers in the original novel of the same name

A demo of the game is available on the official site. The game will retail on April 11 for £29.99.
