Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories |

Few games have sold so well on the PlayStation Portable, as Rockstar's
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories; and in fact, according to the press release they sent out last night, this is
the all-time bestselling PSP game to date. Why the big marketing talk? Easy: Liberty City Stories has just been released on the PlayStation 2, and obviously they need every bit of hype they can generate - even if that means praising a version from a completely different (and technologically inferior) platform. Which is exactly what they did, boasting all sorts of commendations received in IGN's Best Of the PSP 2005 Awards, including "Game of the Year" for Sony's portable system.
But by the looks of it, the PS2 version is a pretty straightforward port from the PSP, with blend graphics, as indicated by these
screenshots and the first
GTA: Liberty City Stories PS2 trailer available now for download / streaming. The only optimizations mentioned by Rockstar reffer to the loading times, the draw distance and the population density, leaving the texture detail and the model poly-count supposedly untouched.
"Today, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories arrives for PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system - meaning PS2 owners across the nation can now also make that return trip to the unwelcoming streets of Liberty City, in the shoes of Toni Cipriani.
With all of the original storyline, gameplay, music and more that made the original version a 2005 classic - optimized for PlayStation 2 with faster load times, increased draw distance and a more densely populated city..."
As usual, the game is rated "M" for mature, and is available in US stores for a suggested retail price of $19.99.
