A lot of music around the videogames these days. Maybe Duran Duran wants to get a MTV Award in the gaming category. But anway...
The aging rockers Duran Duran may have found a way to live forever... And no, there is no magic elixir for this. Just that the band has agreed to perform concerts in a venue where everyone can get and see them, meaning on the PCs.
Duran Duran, band who's well known for their '80s hits "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf," as well as the 90’s ballad "Ordinary World," is trying to reinvent itself once again, and this on Linden Lab's PC game Second Life. Which basically means that the British group will create a "virtual island and perform live virtually.
The players of the game will be represented as avatars and can interact with each other and create houses. But in the case of Duran Duran, they will perform concerts, in a virtual reality. The band's avatars are already commissioned and they will be able to perform starting next month.
"When the video revolution began, we instantly saw the opportunity to experiment and explore a new form of expression to enhance the musical experience. Second Life is the future right now, offering endless possibilities for artists", said keyboardist Nick Rhodes.
The band in not the first to perform on Second Life. Artist like Suzanne Vega performed there too.
