PSP Welcomes PSOne Games In An Unexpected Fashion

Multi | by Vlad Dobrescu | 5th December 2006 |

PSP Welcomes PSOne Games In An Unexpected Fashion   Sony Computer Entertainment America has just come up with a playstation download service, which appears to represent the first step in providing a long awaited link between all playstation systems. Although the project had barely passed the incipient phase, and already has several drawbacks, the first package of games is availabe on the PlayStation Store, each of them carrying a price tag of $5.99.

The winners are Cool Boarders, Crash BandicootBandicoot, Hot Shots Golf 2, Syphon Filter and Tekken 2, the last one exceeding 500 MB. All you have to do is make sure you have the PSP firmware updated to version 3.01. Hmm, that would've been sweet. But it's not the case. For the time being, the games can only be downloaded on a PS3 system, and then has to be transferred to the PSP via a USB cable. Also, the multiplayer functionality is impaired, the main reason being the unmodified state of the old code, which doesn't support Wi-Fi.

Sony is not holding back after one's expectation regarding the novelty level of their service. The current plans include a rapid succesion of titles, as later this month, the PSP owners will be granted to get their hands on another package, whose content remains a mistery. Keep your eyes peeled!
