For all the Flash web games lovers out there, here's another announcement made to measure the overall expectations: the spring of "inspiration" never runs out. According to the Fun-Motion website, Line Rider - once a small project for an illustration class - is now embarking a new development vessel driven by the Californian company inXile Entertainment towards more abrupt and dangerous shores for such a simplistic concept. The company was formed in late 2002 by Interplay Entertainment founder Brian Fargo, and since then it has been developing games for a loadful of platforms, including PCs, handhelds, the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. Among their products, we can count in The Bard's Tale and a yet to be announced next-gen game, scheduled for shipping sometimes in 2007.
"Having already amassed a worldwide cult following on the internet, inXile entertainment announced today that it has acquired the rights to the hugely addictive ‘toy’ Line Rider™ and that the popular game will soon be available for both the Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo Wii.
Since its first appearance on the Web on September 23, 2006, Line Rider has attracted over 15 million viewers to date and has spawned over 11,000 video posts on YouTube.com. Anticipated to ship in Spring 2007, Line Rider for the Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo Wii from inXile entertainment will retain all the fun and thrills of the addictive Web version, but will also include new added features."
