Splinter Cell: Double Agent Infiltrates The European PS3 Launch

PS3 | by Serban Stokker | 28th December 2006 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent |

Splinter Cell: Double Agent Infiltrates The European PS3 Launch   I don't think there was any need for an official confirmation, but Ubisoft decided to set the record straight for the holidays and announced that, indeed, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent will also be released on the PlayStation 3 next year, in time for the console's launch in Europe. This should be the last version of the game to hit retail, after Sam Fisher has already infiltrated about six consoles in his last action-packed adventure. Even the Wii received a Splinter Cell: Double Agent game recently, so the devs should already have some experience with motion-sensing - a feature that will also be included in the PS3 version, thanks to the console's Sixaxis controller.

Unlike the Wii, however, the PlayStation 3 will definitely show us a better looking double agent, with a graphical quality to match the PC and Xbox 360 versions. And just to make sure the game won't already be expired when it launches on the PS3, Ubisoft promised to add some new multiplayer maps and skins on Sony's console.

"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent is already a best-seller and has set a new standard for the Splinter Cell series", said Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft CEO). "I am sure that Double Agent will prove to be a must-have title for PlayStation 3 system."

If Sony won't be postponing once more the European launch of their next-gen console, the PlayStation 3 version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent should come out in March 2007. Otherwise... Duke help us.

Tom Clancy must be spinning in his grave. Wait, I take that back, Tom Clancy is still quite alive and well - and very well, I'd presume, considering the bounty of money he surely rakes in, as he lends his name to many PC and console games. Fortunately for Tom, he gets his paycheck regardless of how well a game is designed. Unfortunately for the rest of us, some gamers may be suckered into buying a title whose predecessors have offered revolutionary and outstanding gameplay, whilst the latest incarnation offers nothing of the sort.
